Welcome
In January of 2009 I realized the opportunity of a lifetime when I was appointed to serve as Senator for the 40th District of Illinois. Now is an incredible time to be in state politics as a newcomer. As hard as it may be to participate in the current political climate, my hope for this District and our state will always be bigger than anyone else’s doubt.
In only my first session, I have participated in the impeachment of a Governor, worked to develop strategies to pass a capital bill, and sponsored pieces of legislation to change the lives of individuals in my district in the areas of healthcare, education, transportation, and veterans’ affairs. It has been an exciting and challenging time to help shape the future of this great state.
I have also been working hard to get to know the people who live and work in my District, as I know it is my first duty to represent their interests and needs. I truly enjoy the diversity of the various communities I represent, and look forward to helping every citizen live their best possible life. This Senate seat is not mine; it belongs to all of us, and together we can make a difference.
Democratically Yours,
